Micro-Liposuction in Dallas, TX
What is Micro-Liposuction?
Micro-liposuction is a procedure that is used to remove fat from problem areas and to reshape areas of the face such as the chin, face and neck. The physician uses tiny incisions and small instruments to have more control during the procedure. This means micro-liposuction is much more precise and less invasive, so patients will have fewer risks of complications compared to traditional liposuction techniques. This procedure is most often used to:
- Enhance the overall facial appearance
- Firm up loose neck skin
- Remove fat from the hips, thighs, abdomen and buttocks
- Enhance the appearance of the cheeks
This cosmetic procedure is a good choice for people who are happy with their weight and appearance, but they still want to contour or enhance problem areas. Micro-liposuction is also used as part of a fat-transfer procedure where an individual's own body fat is removed and re-injected to plump up sunken or emaciated areas.
How Does Micro-Liposuction Work?
During the procedure, the physician will use a combination of tiny incisions and small tubes—known as cannulas—to remove small amounts of fat. Like standard liposuction, micro-liposuction focuses on areas of the body where fat doesn't resolve through exercise and diet alone. Micro-liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that takes less than an hour, and patients can return home shortly after treatment.
The physician will start by injecting tumescent fluid as a local anesthetic, which seals off blood vessels to minimize bleeding during the procedure. This fluid also causes the area to swell, which separates the fat from the surrounding tissue. Next, a cannula is inserted into a small incision to break up the fat, which is then removed using suction. The biggest difference between traditional liposuction techniques and micro-liposuction is the size of the cannula, which is typically less than 2 mm in diameter.
Because the cannula sizes are so small, micro-liposuction allows for better body contouring. Larger cannulas can leave unsightly lumps and ripples in the skin. The smaller cannula size not only creates quality results, it also speeds up recovery time because there is very little trauma. Patients are able to return to normal activities within a couple days of the procedure.
Results of Micro-Liposuction:
Micro-liposuction permanently removes fat cells gently and more completely than other forms of liposuction. Patients often see dramatic changes in their appearance immediately after the micro-liposuction procedure. However, the final results are apparent about three to four weeks after the procedure is performed. Micro-liposuction provides many benefits for patients, including:
- Smaller incisions
- Minimal swelling and scarring
- Less chance of infection
- More precise results
The results of this procedure are permanent. Once the fat cells have been removed, they will not return—unless patients regain weight. Patients should maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine following the procedure to maintain results. Results are very natural with no risk of unevenness or dimpling. There is minimal risk of bleeding, bruising and discomfort. Micro-liposuction procedures leave little room for error and require the trained and talented skills of an experienced surgeon.
