Eclipse MicroPen Procedure in Port Everglades - Fort Lauderdale, FL

Eclipse MicroPen Treatment in Port Everglades - Fort Lauderdale, FL

What is the Eclipse MicroPen?

The Eclipse MicroPen™ is a treatment in aesthetic medicine that is believed to reduce wrinkles , boosts collagen and elastin production, and improve the overall appearance of the skin. This pain-free enhancement procedure uses miniature needles to create tiny openings within the skin that trigger the body's natural healing process. The Eclipse MicroPen™ is a form of micro-needling that can be performed in an office setting and can be used anywhere on the body and on any skin type.

Micro-needling is a quick and simple rejuvenation process that is used for fading stretch marks, reducing fine lines, and improving the appearance of wrinkles. Because the epidermis remains intact, this procedure can be repeated multiple times—it can also be used in regions where lasers and deep peels are not typically performed. The Eclipse MicroPen™ is able to activate the restorative processes of the body to transform blemished and damaged tissue into clearer, more vibrant skin.

What is Micro-Needling?

Automated micro-needling—also called collagen induction therapy—uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin. These micro-injuries activate the skin's repair process, which produces collagen and elastin to create thicker skin and softer wrinkles. Micro-needling also creates small channels that allow topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed more effectively.

The Eclipse MicroPen™ differs from microdermabrasion or lasers because rather than removing or burning skin, micro-needles have shown to be effective in stimulating collagen production without heat. Removing heat from the procedure makes it safer, more comfortable, and lower in its rate of complication.

Rejuvenating skin with the Eclipse MicroPen™ is a safe and effective treatment for people of any age who are looking to improve their skin. The most common skin conditions treated with micro-needling include:

  • Fine lines or moderate wrinkles
  • Diminished skin texture, tone or color
  • Acne scarring
  • Photo aging
  • Traumatic scars

Micro-needling treatment feels similar to sandpaper being moved gently across the skin. Some areas are more sensitive than others, but the speed of the reciprocating cartridge tip of the Eclipse MicroPen™ makes the treatment more comfortable.

How Does it Work?

The Eclipse MicroPen™ is an electric handpiece that uses 12 small needles along with vibration to create painless micro-injuries or channels over the skin's surface. Before treatment begins, the physician will apply a hydrating gel and optional numbing cream to the top layer of the skin. Next, he or she will gently press the MicroPen™ against the skin while simultaneously gliding the device across the skin until the entire treatment area has been micro-needled. During this process, the MicroPen™ creates a series of precise, controlled epidermal and dermal micro-injuries that stimulate the body's immune response by producing collagen and elastin. Watch the video below to see how it works.

Some patients may require a single treatment to achieve optimal results, although in most cases, it is recommended that patients receive three to six treatments at six- to eight-week intervals. The length and amount of treatment a patient receives depends on the condition being addressed. Patients who are looking to treat conditions like deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, acne scars or stretch marks typically receive six to eight treatments at nine-week intervals. Patients who want to improve acne scars require fewer treatments.

The procedure normally takes between 15-30 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Following treatment, patients may notice bright red spots on the skin that can look and feel like sunburn—this typically dissipates after two to four days. Skin typically looks smoother, tighter and more refreshed after treatment, creating a younger, healthier appearance.
